Most things in life are better when shared, including travel. Here are a few simple things you can do to find a travel buddy on your next trip.
Share a place to stay
Roost - Roost is a website that helps travelers find roommates to share hotel rooms and Airbnbs and split the cost. Roost is a great way to cut your lodging bills in half and meet other travelers.
Stay in a hostel - Hostels can be a great way to meet other travelers, but make sure you do your reserach before picking which one to stay. I've personally had several bad experiences staying in hostels.
Find a local
Most people love showing off their hometown. Next time your traveling somewhere new, try and befriend some locals and ask them to show you around. Offer to buy them dinner and you'll get an unfiltered look into what life is really like!
Facebook - There are many Facebook groups that can help you find a travel buddy. There are several for female travelers only and some that are destination specific.
Couchsurfing- In addition to finding a local's couch to sleep on, Couchsurfing has groups and meetups to help you connect with fellow travelers.
Tourlina - Tourlina is an app connecting female travelers with other travelers and locals.
Be social - Keep your phone down and talk to as many people as you can. You never know who you'll meet and most travelers are looking for others to explore with.
Drink and be merry - People loosen up when they get a few drinks in them. If you're into going to bars this can be a great way to meet other travelers. Remember to always stay in control when drinking in a new city.
